group logo design

It was very sunny this morning during swim meet. I did not apply any sunblock and after the meet my friend told me I turned darker! Wow I never realised the sun in Singapore is so amazing! Only a few hours and a person can become a few tones darker! Haha..

Anyways, I am done with Rossi's outfit :) so now I am left with the group logo design and stuff. I was wondering whether everyone in our group has seen my first sketch of the logo. Basically, it is..a logo! A 3-D and non-graphic one. Yup. A cutie one with this super huge head of a hamster who is wearing a cap and sticking out its pink tongue. Behind it is the black-and-white flag of F1, to make it look really racy, besides from cutie. ^^ And under the logo there are these words - "It's A Rat Race". Maybe we can change it to "Rossi Rocks" or something, to motivate our dear Rossi. Haha..

As most of our group members say that it is cute, I decided to use this logo then. At first I thought of making a flag or banner using this logo but it will be far too troublesome and difficult. Vitoria actually suggested that we can paste copies of the logo on our uniform, like a really crazy fan of Rossi. I think it is a very cool suggestion. So I have made some copies of my original logo for everyone, without the words though, so that everyone can write on her own words of motivation. Then it will look more interesting :)

Besides from my logo, I also printed some with a different design (refer to the image on the top left of the page). It is colourless. So I am going to bring my coloured pencils tomorrow - if I remember - and everyone can colour her picture with different colours, just like colouring sessions in kindergarten! ^^ Then our group will look so colourful ,and maybe the vibrant colours can motivate Rossi to run even faster. Haha..And some more. See the bandana on its head in the image? It is empty as well and everyone can write the words of motivation there, like "Go Rossi!" and stuff. Although Rossi can't read, I am sure he can feel our support and he will definitely try his best! Right people? (...Silence...sweatdrop..oh nevermind then..)

And for my original logo, I have printed one and beautified it to make it the main symbol of our group, just like a bill board, something like that, ya.Tomorrow every group member is going to cheer as loudly as possible for Rossi. Who knows, after this race, some big companies will consider sponsoring Rossi and make him famous world wide! Haha..just my fantasy.

I think every group member has done her individual work and had prepared well for Rossi's race tomorrow. I really can't wait for tomorrow's race! Well I hope that it is going to be an interesting one. I am going to pray for Rossi tonight and wish that everything will go well tomorrow. Go Rossi go!! ^_^

Rossi's cloak is completed!!

I have finished sewing Rossi's cloak today! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

Today is the swimming finals. You know, it can be quite boring sometimes so I decided to sew while watching. I brought along with me my sewing kit and a new determination - to finish sewing Rossi's cloak before swim meet ends!

So there I was, sitting on the steps hot in the morning sun, carefully sewing. Steph said sewing is like 'ah-mah' (grandma). So bad... :( But never mind. I do all these for Rossi ^_^ (haha me and my favourite quote again).

I have finished sewing the first part which is the straight line of the letter 'R' yesterday, so I was left with the most challenging part which is the curve and the slanted line (whatever it is called).

I first started by sewing stitches for the curve part. It is really no easy job. Besides all the noise around was a great distraction. I poked my fingers for quite a number of times, luckily they didn't bleed..phew..But too bad the stitches turned out to be smaller and uglier than yesterday's one. :( but what is done cannot be undone. I can't just pull out all the threads right? So I ignored the thought and continued with my job.

Last night I complained that my fingers hurt due to prolonged holding of the tiny piece of cloth. And today I have figured out a good way to prevent this! I got a piece of paper and cut out a big hole at the middle, about the size of the fabric but smaller. Next I fasten the black fabric on the piece of paper using needles. In this case, I will be holding on to the big piece of paper while sewing instead of the tiny little black cloth. And my fingers will not get numb anymore! ^^

So i continued sewing. Occasionally I did watch the competition and cheer for our class people, especially Liz and Steph, because they are in Blackmore haha..And so I kept on sewing. I had to always stop and think carefully before poking in the needle as the process of sewing is irreversible. Actually it is reversible but it's very troublesome and tedious. I am so short of time so I have to be extremely careful as every mistake is a hazard to Rossi! I also asked for others' opinion and decided whether which way of sewing is the nicest.

With much difficulties, finally I finished sewing the stitches. The letter 'R' looks really like an 'R' and I am sure if you ask some kindergarten kids they definitely will know the answer. Haha..But I scrutinised and stared at it for quite a while, then I noticed it looks kind of weird. It is because some of the stitches are not of the same size. The ones I sewed last night were a bit bigger. Today's ones are nicer as they are smaller and more 'closely packed' to each other, making the letter look compact and solid. But because of the unevenness of thickness, the letter looks a bit weird. A bit only. Then I thought of sewing on some more stitches to the thinner ones but I later changed my mind as this will only make the whole thing look more messy. So I decided to just stick on to its original look. Sigh..Rossi's cloak is fated to look like this. Too bad I can't change its destiny. (what a perfect excuse - said myself. Haha)

I wanted to make a collar for the cloak, like those in old English movies, which the warriors look really cool and smart in. But the problem is, I cut out the fabric too small and there is not much 'margin' left on the top. Too bad so sad. I can't make a cool collar for Rossi's cloak but I can make a cutie one. So i folded down some part at the top and sewed using white thread as the lining of the collar. It is really tiny and looks mismatched, I must say. But no choice..sigh. Actually it looks kinda cute if you look at it from the art perspective. (what a perfect excuse - said myself again. Haha not funny)

At first I thought of sewing on two ribbons so that we can tie the cloak around Rossi's neck. But I could not find any black ribbons and I am NOT going to cut anything from my clothes anymore! So from the remaining fabrics, I just cut out two long strips and sewed them on near the collar. Then I suddenly realised that I don't have the measurements of Rossi's neck! Never mind I will ask Vitoria for it today.

And for the finishing touches, I got this tiny golden bell from a keychain. After I have got Rossi's neck measurement and sewn the tiny strap of the cloak, I am going to add on this cutie-sized bell in the middle of the strap - bright yellow letter on black fabric with white-lined collar plus a shiny golden bell - isn't this cool? Rossi must be so excited!

So I am done with Rossi's cloak, right before swim meet ended, and I even have the chance to watch the synchronised swimming performance! I feel so satisfied, so good! Yay! I am just going to bring my sewing kit to school tomorrow in case of any 'clothing emergency', broken strap or whatever. I really can't believe tomorrow is the competition! I wonder how is our dear Rossi doing? Well I guess he must be busy training for his run now. Go Rossi! Everything is going to be fine ^^ Good luck. We love you <3

about rossi's outfit 2 ^_^

Today I have finally started on Rossi's outfit. Because of my stupid CCA, I came back very late today. I have not much time left for the day :( but still I started on his costume as the competition is only 2 days ahead! Oh no! Well, hope that our dear Rossi is mentally prepared for this oncoming BIG event :)

After much consideration, I decided to make Rossi a black cloak. Well it is partly because I could not find white fabric. But the main reason is Rossi is white in colour (if I am not wrong) and he will look really outstanding with a black cloak as you know, contrasting colours. And a black cloak looks really cool doesn't it? Like batman haha..

But there is one big problem. I don't have a single piece of black fabric!! Not even 1cm!! So I began rummaging through my closet. Guess what was I trying to do. Finally I took out a black long-sleeved shirt, a black blouse and a pair of black track pants. Yes I am going to cut some out of them!! How great is my sacrifice! Sobs..

I love my black shirt and blouse. No no no I am so not going to cut them. So at last I decided to cut my track pants since I have no choice, although this is the only pair of track pants I have. Sobs..so I cut out this 'big' piece and observe it under the light. The fabric is thin and light and I think it's the best choice as it will not add weight to our fat Rossi and slow down its movements. Next the fabric has a a 'shiny effect'. It is not like silk though but it looks quite 'shiny' under the light. You know, the fabric of track pants, it is not as dull as cotton.

Then I started sewing. To sew letters on fabric, a different kind of thread is needed (hehe so sorry I don't know what is it called). I searched through my sewing kit but I still couldn't find some white ones. And it turned out that I have black ones! If only I have cut some white fabric instead of my track pants! But consider the fact that Rossi is white, I must say I do not regret cutting my clothes :) I suddenly felt very disappointed. The cloak will only look its best with white words!

But it's ok, I told myself, it's not the end..yet. I decided to use the yellow threads instead. Yellow threads will look quite striking on black fabric, and Rossi will look like a honey bee haha.. So i started sewing the big letter 'R'. It is indeed a very difficult task. Since the piece of cloth is so tiny, my fingers got really tired holding them while sewing and at last my hand got numb. It still hurts a bit when I am typing. Nevermind. I do all these for Rossi :)

Due to the shortage of time, I only sewed the first straight line of the letter 'R', and I nearly died. It's so tiny and I am so glad I don't have long sightedness or else I will end up poking my own finger all the time. I took some time to finish this first part and I will continue with the rest tomorrow during the swimming finals. Some one said it looks nice and cool, but I am not quite sure about that. You see, this is a team work thingie and I need to know what you people think about it.

Anyways I feel really accomplished :) although I have only finished one small part of it. Sigh..hope that I can finish it by tomorrow. And oh ya! I decided to add a tiny bell to the collar part of the cloak, a really tiny one. So that when Rossi runs, it will produce the melodious sounds of bell. Can you imagine it? It's so cool right? Sometimes I just envy Rossi haha..

Well, I hope that our dear Rossi will look cool in this newly designed outfit. Hope that he will like it but too bad Rossi can't talk. Haha..wish that he could show his gratitude to us by winning the race. Haha..but winning the race is not the main point, right? We do all these because we love Rossi!! <3>

Ok that's all for today. Two more days to go! All the best Rossi, and good luck to everyone for her own jobs. Goodnight ^^

about rossi's outfit

We ran 2.4 yesterday and did our 5 items today. All because of the stupid run yesterday, I got blisters. I hate blisters!

Ok. Initially I wanted the superman suit for Rossi. But I have changed my mind. I think a cloak will do. As you know, the underwear is very difficult to make and it will probably hinder the movements of Rossi when he runs. So I will just make him a cloak, either a black one with the letter 'R' in white or a white cloak with the letter in black. Rossi is about the length of my middle finger and its width is about 5cm. I hope it will be no problem to sew its cloak.

And I am going to make some flags using the logo I designed. I will make copies of it and we can each stick it on our uniform, like a total crazy fan of Rossi!

Tomorrow is the Swimming Championships and I think I am going to start working on its outfit tomorrow. Or else we will be so short of time! Hope Rossi is doing well. Dearest Rossi, your cool outfit is on its way! ^^

design design design...

Well, I am glad everyone likes the design of the logo. Haha.. Now left with the costume. Ok, I still can't make up my mind which colour to use. I think black-and-white is quite cool, and it's easier to make than the red-white-blue one, as we can just colour some white fabric with black marker. Haha..but the problem is I can't find white cloth. So I was thinking, since Andrea is getting some fabric for the circuit, maybe I can ask her to try to get me some white ones. And oh ya! I also need to ask Vitoria to give me the measurements of little Rossi. And I have come out with this list of what I need:

- shoulder
- hips
- waist
- length of its back
- length of its hipbone to its feet

Yup. As soon as I get the measurements and the fabric, I will start working on our Rossi's costume! Yay! It may look easy but it's quite difficult since Rossi is so tiny. And if possible I will try to sew the letter 'R' on the cloak. It is a difficult task and requires some skills. So I was thinking, if I really can't do it then I will just draw the letter on with a marker. Hope that is ok..

I was wondering what can I do with my logo. Are we going to make a flag with the logo or what? Sigh...there are quite a lot of things to do with all these designing stuff so I guess I have to start working now.

Yup that's all for today! Tomorrow is Sunday. Yippee! I can sleep late. Wish every one a nice and happy weekend. And Happy Easter Day! ^_^

design stuff ^_^ by shan qi

Hmm...i have designed our group logo! Vitoria is going to take a picture of it and post it up! Yup..and for our hamster's costume, my idea is -- Superman Suit! basically it's just an underwear and a cloak with the letter 'R'- since our Hamster's name is Rossi.. ^^ but i still can't think of the colour combination i'm going to use. A 3-colour combination is the best. Red-blue-white (like the UK flag) or just black and white (typical F1 colour)? anyways hope our dear Rossi is doing well ^^ way to go people. haha...
